Author's Notes
after four full years of procrastination, going through complete ego death, flip-flopping between hobbies, blowing through thousands of dollars on bullcrap and having a mental health crisis i am proud to present the first pages of my magnum opus, the NY2K
this all started as a fleeting idea back in 2019. i drew an angry little girl with a bowlcut and braids. you probably know what she's become. the rest of the cast was doodled unceremoniously on an old sketchbook as i was on vacation. i wanted to do something with them. i wanted to build a world. this all started off as a comedy, and honestly i didnt know what i was doing. my writing was fine but the drawing was ass. i wanted this to be for TV but then i realized that was utterly stupid and i didn't need a thumbs up from a big money guy to tell me what to make. so i turned the idea into a webcomic (what it should have been from the start)
since then i have used life experience and influence from other media to make this concept a lot more darker than i initially planned. but one thing hasn't changed- this is a personal project. when you read this you are reading me like a book. and i am trying to say things with this- not just make funny comedy like i've done exclusively with these characters in the past
yes the artstyle is still juvenile. im really not that good at what i do, but this is my best work as of yet and i hope at least someone can get enjoyment out of it.
nocturnally grateful,
